It is also committed to the prevention of abuse of the benefit system and the protection of public funds. For this purpose, information and data provided to the council will be used in data matching exercises to prevent and detect fraud.

Benefit fraud costs taxpayers millions of pounds each year. If you think you know of a benefit fraud call the Benefit Investigation Team on 01708 432405 Monday to Friday between 8.30am and 5.30pm and speak to an investigator in complete confidence, or phone our 24 hour answer phone service on 01708 432207 or email us at fraud@havering.gov.uk. Please remember to give us as much information as possible including the name and address of the person involved and the reason you suspect a fraud is being committed.
