Primary School Modernisation - Building New Schools - Stage 3 Consultation
During the summer of 2007 the Council consulted (Stage 2) on proposals to reduce surplus primary school places and build new schools. Following consideration of the results of that process and changes in government regulations the Council consulted on more specific proposals relating to the proposed rebuilding of schools in the Central Romford and Elm Park/South Hornchurch areas.
Meetings for the public/parents/carers took place on Thursday 7th February at Langtons Junior School (focusing on proposals for Ayloff and Dunningford schools) and on Tuesday 19th February at Marshalls Park School (focusing on proposals for the Manor and Edwin Lambert schools).
The publication 'Modernisation of Havering Primary Schools – Stage 3 Consultation', available by clicking on the link on the right, set out what is proposed and why. A link on the right leads to set of Questions and Answers, which should help to explain some of the more common issues.
The Stage 3 consultation was reported to the Council's Cabinet on 16 April 2008, and a decision was made to proceed to publish formal Statutory Notices.
These Notices were published on 6 June 2008, and the Full Proposal documents associated with the Notices are available for download on the links on the right. This instigated a period in which objections and comments could be submitted, which has now ended.
All comments and objections received were reported to the Council's Cabinet on 20 August 2008, where a decision was made to approve the proposals.
The decision relating to Dunningford and Ayloff Primary Schools has been 'called in' and will be examined further at the next Children's Services Overview and Scrutiny Committee during September.
The decision relating to the Manor, Edwin Lambert and Gidea Park Primary Schools will proceed as proposed.
