A guide to the Home Improvement Agency
They help to tackle poor or unsuitable housing, enabling clients to remain in their own home, safe, secure, warm and independent.
Services we will provide
We will assist with:
- Form filling Grant applications, and assign a caseworker to visit you at home, if necessary
- Assign professional surveyors to manage your building works e.g. disabled facilities or project work
- Ensure the use of reputable contractors
- All cases will be treated as private and confidential.
What we can't do:
- Gardening, decorating, Housework (however, may be able to forward you to other agencies who may be able to assist)
- Cannot carry out emergency repairs
- Cannot provide financial assistance. However in certain circumstances, we may be able to assist you in approaching certain charities for assistance.
- We do have contractors on list who may be able to carry out small jobs at a reasonable cost.
Staff
Staff comprises of one team leader, two case workers, one project officer, one surveyor and an administrator.
Communication
We will endeavour to answer all your telephone calls as quickly and as efficiently as possible.
Grants (Disabled facilities - mandatory)
We work in partnership with the Council's grant's and occupational therapy departments and will assist with form filling. We will do a home visit if necessary.
Contractors
All our contractors are vetted by the Council and have to adhere to the Council's code of conduct.
