Language and cultural support

The Europa Centre for Modern Languages is a simulation centre for children and adults learning modern languages.

Europa Centre for Modern Languages

It is set out in the form of a village with shops, a hotel, market square, café, post office, railway station and many other facilities.

Each week up to 500 students from schools and colleges visit with their class to simulate a trip to France, Germany or Spain.

All the signs and shop names are changed in line with the language of the visit and the roles of the "inhabitants", such as shop assistants, waiters or policeman, are played by native speakers of the language concerned.

You can visit our website at www.europacentre.co.uk

How to get to the Europa Centre

The Europa Centre is situated two minutes walk from Upminster Bridge Underground Station, which is the second to last station on the District Line.

If coming by coach the simplest route is to leave the M25 at junction 29 taking the A127 in the direction of London.

Ignore the Upminster/ Brentwood turn-off and continue on the A127 up a hill, passing a garage on your left and the Palm's Hotel on your right. After the garage take the slip road off to the left and proceed along Wingletye Lane for about two miles until you reach the traffic lights.

Turn left into Upminster Road and take the first turning on the left which is "The Walk". The Europa Centre is situated about 100 yards down on the left hand side.
