Lighting - street lights

Havering Council is responsible for lights including: Illuminated bollards, Illuminated street signs, Lampposts. The local electricity company - EDF - is responsible for the electrical supply to these lights. However you can report faults


Reporting a faulty light

Contact us, using the numbers in the contact details link, or after hours on 01708 433999 or complete the on-line form.

Please indicate the precise location of the light by telling us the following:

  • The name of the road or street where the light is located.
  • Any junction with other roads.
  • The nearest house number or the closest landmark.
  • The lamp column number, if applicable, usually found on the road side of the column approx. 2 metres up.
  • The bollard number, if applicable - this can be found on the front or the rear of the unit.

Useful information when reporting a faulty light

What exactly is wrong with the light?

  • Has it been knocked over?
  • Has the post/bollard been damaged, e.g. exposed wires?
  • Is it permanently on?
  • Is the door missing?
  • Is the light bulb dead?
