Day Services
Various organisations provide a variety of Day Services, also referred to as Social Inclusion and Day Opportunities, where people attend on a daily or occasional basis. For older people, people with learning difficulties or physical disabilities, Day Services can provide educational, occupational and leisure activities as well as social contact. There is usually a charge for this service, but what you pay will depend upon your financial situation, including any benefits you receive.
Residential Care
A number of organisations provide residential and nursing care homes for people who cannot obtain the support they need to remain at home. There are homes for older people and people with a mental illness or a learning or physical disability. There are also residential homes and foster carers who provide care for children with physical and learning disabilities.
Depending on your needs, and the person you are caring for, a break can be arranged for short or longer periods, on a "one off", or regular basis.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
If you don't need financial assistance
People enquiring privately about residential care should contact the homes directly and make their own choice after finding out as much as possible about the accommodation, facilities, staffing, care and fees.

Telecare
Telecare is a range of sensors that interact with the current pendant alarm system. The sensors can detect and raise an alarm automatically in the home, thus eliminating a number of risks. The alarm is raised at the Control Centre at Royal Jubilee Court, who will respond by alerting an agreed 'responder' (e.g. a neighbour or relative) or respond directly themselves.
Telecare in broad terms, gives elderly and vulnerable people independence and confidence to live in their own homes safely and without fear. It also relieves the burden on their carers or family, by knowing that help is on hand 24 hours a day, should an emergency situation arise.
All the equipment is free, the only charge is for the response service.
To refer someone for a Telecare Assessment or for any enquiries regarding Telecare, please phone: Front Door Team on 01708 432000.
