Reporting a private residential foul blocked drain

  • Properties built before 01 October 1937 that do not share a drain with another property are considered private properties.
  • All properties built after 01 October 1937 are considered private properties.

For private properties it is the owners/residents responsibility to have blocked drains cleared.

If you do not wish to contact a private drainage company, then you may like to make use of the service provided by the council.

Additional information

  • You will be requested to sign a form presented to you by the council representative indicating that you agree to pay for the service.
  • An invoice will be posted to you within 4 weeks of the completion of the work.
  • Cheque's are to be made payable to London Borough of Havering.

A representative will be at your premises within 24 hours of you contacting us.

How much does it cost?

There is a standard fee of £93.20 inc VAT  for this service. From 1st January 2010 this charge will increase to £95.25 inc VAT.


Reporting a residential foul blocked drain 

Properties built before 01 October 1937, and that share a drain with one other property, are the responsibility of Thames Water.
