Supporting Young People: Reducing Teenage Pregnancy

TXTM8 Jpeg Pic.JPGTXTM8 - the FREE Text Messaging Service comes to Havering
For more information about this free service see "Find a Local Service" below.

Almost 60% of teenage conceptions lead to a termination in Havering. That’s an average of 100 every year.

The Havering Teenage Pregnancy Prevention Unit is therefore responsible for coordinating the actions to achieve the key aim of the local Teenage Pregnancy Strategy which is to reduce the number of unwanted teenage pregnancies in Havering.
To help reduce teenage pregnancies, young people need access to friendly, accessible sexual health and contraceptive information, advice and services. This page therefore provides information and advice on the following services:
  • Opening times and locations of the local Contraception Clinics
  • Locations of the FREE Condom Card Scheme providers in Havering
  • Phoenix Teenage Pregnancy, Sex & Relationships Advisory Service
  • Contact list of other local and national organisation that support young people and parents.
If you have any comments or suggestions about the content of this page, please contact the Manager of the TP Prevention Unit at daren.mulley@havering.gov.uk

Havering Condom Card Scheme

The Havering C-Card scheme is a borough-wide FREE condom distribution network that aims to reduce unwanted pregnancies and protect young people from sexually transmitted infections including HIV.
Condom use is the safest contraception to protect and safeguard young people’s sexual health. This scheme therefore helps to improve condom access for young people who are sexually active and live, study and work in Havering under the age of 25.
Through a network of local services and colleges, young people are able to access free condoms across Havering. The scheme is accessible to any young person and is strictly confidential.
