Skips and Building Material Licenses
Under the Highways Act 1980 it is an offence to place anything on the highway unless authorised by a license in writing issued by the Highway Authority.
It is the duty of the Council, as a highway authority, to issue these licenses to maintain public safety and the environment.
The following charges apply:
- Skip License Valid for 14 days £39
- Skip License Renewal Valid for 7 days £16
- Building Materials Valid for 14 days £39
- Building Materials Renewal Valid for 7 days £16
Licenses for Building Materials should be addressed to Mercury House, Mercury Gardens, Romford, RM1 3SL or Tel no. 01708 433229.
Applications for Skip Hire should be made directly to the Skip Company and the license will be issued directly to them and a copy sent to the householder.
It is important that your skip is illuminated with lamps, during dark hours.
How much notice must I give you for my skip licence?
Skip companies are required to give us three working days notice before the expected delivery.
