Substance abuse - Havering Drug and Alcohol Action Team

This page explains what the Drug and Alcohol Action Team is and areas of responsibility. Details of how to contact the DAAT and the complaints procedure are also listed below.

What is the Havering Drug & Alcohol Action Team?

Havering Drug & Alcohol Action Team (DAAT) is a strategic partnership of Havering Council, NHS Havering, London Probation, User and Carer Representatives and the Metropolitan Police Service.  The DAAT is responsible for local implementation of the Coalition Government's drug strategy: 'Reducing demand, restricting supply, building recovery; supporting people to live a drug free life'.

In addition the DAAT is responsible for;

  • Commissioning high quality drug and alcohol treatment services for young people and adults.
  • Ensuring the right services are in place for families and carers of individuals with a drug or alcohol problem.
  • Reducing drug related crime through the Drug Intervention Programme (DIP) and a range of effective pathways and interventions.
  • Making advice, information and harm reduction initiatives relevant to local need.
  • Protecting the local community from drug related supply, crime and anti-social behaviour through our work with local partners.

DAAT partners meet quarterly to steer progress and implementation of the objectives in each of these work areas.  The DAAT Partnership Board is chaired by Andrew Ireland, Group Director of Social Care and Learning for the London Borough of Havering.
