Garden Waste Scheme
The service year runs from 1st April 2010 to 31st March 2011.
We are now starting to retrieve bins from customers who have not renewed their service subscription or who no longer wish to be part of the service. Please contact us immediately if you wish to retain the service.
Please note that we will not be sending out stickers for bins this year. If you have paid, our collection crew will be informed and continue to empty your bin.

Separate Recycling Collections - Now Borough-wide for Houses, Coming Soon to Flats with Bins!
Separate collections of orange sacks from the rubbish is now Borough wide for all houses and flats on a sack collection.
The change in service means that orange recycling sacks are collected separately, along with corrugated cardboard, from the rest of the rubbish.
The Recycling Team is currently working hard to provide separate collections of recycling to all flats with bins.

Havering supports the Love Food Hate Waste Campaign
The campaign aims to raise awareness of the staggering amount of food that is wasted in the UK everyday and highlight the amount of money that is wasted by the average family as a consequence.
Havering is supporting the campaign by running a series of roadshows around the Borough. Recycling Advisors will be at hand at each of the roadshows to give advice and helpful tips on how to reduce the amount of food that gets wasted. They will be giving out recipe cards which demonstrate how to cook delicious meals with leftover food.
Please regularly view the website for updates on how the campaign progresses and for information on roadshow dates and venues.
Visit Love Food Hate Waste for loads of handy ideas, great recipes for leftovers from top chefs, help with understanding portions and much more!

Recycle Week - June 2010
This year Recycle Week is taking place between 21 - 27 June and will keep the same overarching theme of 'let's waste less' but will concentrate on raising awareness of one material stream in particular - small waste electrical and electronic equipment (WEEE). In addition to this, Havering Council will be promoting the Love Food Hate Waste Campaign (with a World Cup theme), Home Composting and Havering's Recycling Services. Residents will be encouraged to make a pledge to recycle their small electricals. Those that do will be entered into a free prize draw to win a clock radio and an eco kettle. In order to raise awareness of tetra pak recycling, residents will also be invited to enter a 'Renewable Idea' competition where they stand the chance of winning £1,000 for themselves and £25,000 towards making their idea happen. Log onto http://www.renewableidea.co.uk/ for details. There will be 6 events during Recycle Week, so plenty of opportunities for residents to come along and get involved. Make a space in your diary for one or more of the following:
