As part of the improvement of the IT systems within the Council the document imaging system that enables the viewing of planning applications online is being re-located and planning applications will not be accessible on-line for the 2nd and 3rd of August. However applications can be viewed in our planning reception area, 7 floor, Mercury House, Mercury Gardens, Romford between 9am and 5pm.
The Olympic Delivery Authority has received a planning application for the ArcelorMittal Orbit, a 114m high sculpture which would be a visitor attraction during and after the Olympic and Paralympic Games and includes a platform giving views over the Olympic Park and London. The consultation period runs until 2nd August 2010. For more information and to comment on the proposals please visit the ODA's website.
Changes to legislation brought in on 1st October 2009 have introduced a simplified procedure to keep planning permissions which are about to lapse, alive. Application forms can be downloaded from the Planning Portal.
A new procedure has also been introduced for minor amendments to schemes already granted planning permission. A decision on whether a further planning application will be required for the amendment should be issued in 28 days of receipt. Application forms can be downloaded from the Planning Portal.
Householder Appeals Service. A new Householder Appeals Service (HAS) has been introduced by the Planning Inspectorate. The new service relates to householder applications submitted after 6 April 2009 only and is intended to make the process simpler to understand; it requires less form filling and relies mainly on documentation already sent to the local planning authority.
Changes to permitted development rights were introduced by the Government on 1 October 2008. Detailed information can be found on the planning portal web site. An interactive guide to home improvements has also been produced which is available at Planning Portal - Guide to Home Improvements .
The planning portal is an on-line resource for planning information and services. In addition to practical information, the portal can help you apply electronically for planning permission or appeal against a decision.
