Romford Central Library
The new look Central Library in Romford opened its doors to the public Tuesday 6 April, following a 16-month multi-million pound refurbishment.
The refurbishment, part of the Transforming Libraries programme to improve every library in the borough, included a total redesign of the ground floor to make way for an open plan library, while repairs have been made to the floors, ceilings and roof.
New features include glass walling around the front to let in more light and new toilet facilities for the disabled.
This was the first refurbishment since the library opened in 1965. While the lending library is fully open, further works will continue on the first floor of the building, which will be completed, and a formal opening held, later on in the summer.
Ebooks and Audio Books
Ebooks and audio books are now available from Havering Libraries free of charge. All you need is a Library Card and PIN number. If you have forgotten your PIN number please visit your local Havering Library with your card and proof of ID bearing your name and address, and they will be able to issue you with your number.
