Mainly laid to ​grass this park is known for its scenic views of the capital and surrounding countryside. It has been awarded Green Flag status since 2010 and is a great place for walks and informal recreation. Although the park is set in an urban environment visitors can enjoy nature in the large summer meadow which has cut paths and picnic tables. ​Children of all ages can enjoy the varied play area with inclusive play equipment, including a multi-use games ball court and outdoor gym​.

There are three local bus routes that pass close to Lawns Park. From Romford, the 247, 365 and 294​ all pass along Collier Row Lane. From the stop closest to Goring Lane it is a short five minute walk to the closest entrance at Playfield Avenue. Alternatively, you can alight the bus several stops earlier and walk up Hillfoot Road to the entrances at Horndon Road and Mashiters Hill. ​ Detailed public transport travel information and journey planner can be found on the Transport for London website​.​ There is no off-street car park at Lawns Park.
