Building new homes for Havering
The regeneration of 12 Council Housing sites will see a doubling of the affordable housing across those sites to help provide affordable homes to local people.
Since the Right to Buy started around 4,000 Council homes have been sold which now need to be replaced in order to meet the borough’s need for affordable housing for local people.
During the next 10 years Havering Council is planning to build around 3,500 new homes for local people at affordable rents, low Cost Home Ownership and private sale, in one of the most ambitious local authority home building programmes in the country.
The land being used is owned by us and will remain in Council ownership.
Around 500 new homes are being developed across the borough in small pockets of land where a small number of new homes can be built on each site.
The 12 Site Regeneration Programme will deliver approximately 3000 new, energy efficient homes across the borough, creating modern estates that reflect the aspirations of our residents.
The first demolitions are due to take place in the Autumn of 2019. Demolition Notices have been delivered to around 900 properties situated across the 12 sites.
