Annual canvass

The way we carry out the annual canvass to update the electoral register has changed.

The annual canvass has been subject to reform and the process and will run annually from August to November with the revised electoral register published on the first working day of December.

The canvass will be conducted in stages.

Stage 1 – Forms sent to every address on the electoral register.

Stage 2 – Election Service Canvassers visit all properties that have not responded to Stage 1.

Stage 3 – Canvass form sent to properties that have failed to respond to the previous stages. 

How to respond

The quickest and easiest way to respond is online using our household update service.

You will need the security codes on the form or email we sent to use this service.

Where possible please use the online response service.

If you do not have access to the internet, you can complete the form and return it by post to Civica Election Services, London N81 1ER.

Any new residents who are eligible to vote should register to vote as soon as possible.

Please note, the canvass form is not a registration form.

Received post or text for an address that you no longer live at?

If you have received something from us regarding an address at which you are no longer resident, please let us know by completing our online form.
