Solar park scheme

A solar park is an area of ground mounted solar panels generating renewable energy from the power of the sun.

We have put together a new proposal to build two solar parks in the borough aiming to generate an estimated £1m a year from renewable energy at:

  • Gerpins Lane in Corbets Tey
  • land adjacent to Dagnam Park in Harold Hill

Benefits

Money generated from the scheme would support essential Council front line services.

Using the sites to generate clean, green electricity would bring a number of environmental benefits, for example: bringing scrub land which is currently only grazed by deer back into management, with the potential to develop wild flower meadows and new tree plantings.

Consultation

We are currently reviewing responses received from our consultation on the proposed solar park scheme.
