Message from the Chief Executive

Dear Colleague,

I am pleased to say our Terms & Conditions (T&C) Review was agreed by the Governance Committee last night (Thursday 20 July), to be implemented from 1 September.

This follows confirmation by the trade unions to a Collective Agreement after holding a ballot with their members.

This means that all of the revisions to the Council’s initial proposals have been confirmed including the recent changes to the protection of Shift and Enhancement Allowances and the increase to the Teaching Assistant 2 Allowance.

A contract variation letter will be sent to all corporate employees by the end of August for information, confirming the T&C changes.

This Review has been a long, drawn out process; we appreciate the diligence of the trade unions, who have worked with us to make sure the proposals were as fair, reasonable and consistent as possible, and the support and professionalism of our colleagues during this time.

With the Collective Agreement in place we can now implement the T&C changes, move on as an organisation, and get on with the job in hand – giving our residents the best possible service we can.
