Rough sleepers in Havering
In Havering there are a few people who end up sleeping rough on the streets and we are working with other partners to ensure that there is help and support available to those who are affected.
What we can do
We work in partnership with the homelessness charity Thames Reach (London Street Rescue) to meet with rough sleepers, carry out assessments and provide support.
This includes supporting people to reconnect them to their own area, or to support them to find accommodation, usually in the private rented sector.
How you can help
We need you to let us know if you are affected or when you spot a rough-sleeper in your local area.
You can do this by contacting Street Link.
Or call 0300 500 0914.
Outreach workers are available to make contact with the person based on the information you provide. So please try to give an accurate description of the rough sleeper and their exact location.
You may also be asked for your email address so that the outreach worker can let you know the outcome. All information you provide will be held in the strictest confidence.

Severe weather emergency
We will provide emergency accommodation to rough sleepers to prevent deaths on the streets caused by cold winter conditions. This will be activated when the Met Office predicts three consecutive nights of temperature below 0 degrees and will be in operation from 1 December 2015 to 31 March 2016.
Referrals are expected through the London Street Rescue Outreach teams, the Police and our staff. Therefore we are developing a Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP) for rough sleepers in Havering. This will be administered by the Housing Advice and Homelessness and Hostels teams.
