Alternative housing advice and assistance

If you do not qualify for homeless assistance from the council, then

Rough Sleeping

If you are sleeping rough, London No Second Night Out may be able to help.

We work in partnership with the homelessness charity Thames Reach (London Street Rescue) to meet with rough sleepers, carry out assessments and provide support.

This includes supporting people to reconnect them to their own area, or to support them to find accommodation, usually in the private rented sector.

You can contact Street Link for support on 0300 500 0914

Severe weather emergency

Havering Council will also provide emergency accommodation to rough sleepers to prevent deaths on the streets caused by cold winter conditions. This will be activated when the Met Office predicts 3 consecutive nights of temperature below 0 degrees.

Referrals are expected through the London Street Rescue Outreach teams, the Police and other Council staff. Therefore, we are developing a Severe Weather Emergency Protocol (SWEP) for rough sleepers in Havering. This will be administered by the Housing Advice and Homelessness and Hostels teams
