Become an enhanced foster carer

We are looking for enhanced foster carers who have previous experience of working with children, from an education, health, residential, justice or fostering environment.

An enhanced foster carer will:

  • be able and willing to go the extra mile for children and young people regardless of the challenges
  • provide care for 11- 17 year olds with complex needs and behavioural difficulties
  • be able to work closely with social work teams to help facilitate a return home where feasible
  • support a young person upon their completion of residential care
  • doesn’t have any children aged under 5 years in the household

We support you becoming an enhanced foster carer with:

  • combined weekly reward from £575 to £750 per week
  • skills to enhanced foster carer training, including intensive therapeutic training
  • 24 hour social care support
  • a dedicated advanced practitioner
  • additional enrolment on the Fostering Changes 12 week programme
  • clinical support in conjunction with our Systemic Therapist Team
  • multi-disciplinary support including Early Help, child’s social worker, IRO, Systemic Therapist
  • additional financial support for the child within the weekly allowance to cover either therapeutic support, sporting activities or child’s hobbies eg counselling, swimming, music with a package unique to each child 
  • enhanced foster carers support group
  • access to the Havering Foster Carers Association (HFCA), who provide days out, social events and peer on peer support
