Bogus tree and gardening services operating in Havering

Published: Monday, 20th March 2017

Havering Council has received complaints from residents around the borough regarding bogus tree and gardening services.

These services have been advertised through resident’s letterboxes and residents who have used these traders have complained of shoddy overpriced work, damage to plants and trees from careless work, aggressive behaviour and fly tipping of waste.

The cards also often contain fictitious addresses which imply that the senders are local to Havering.

Havering Council would like to remind residents to consider using a ‘Buy With Confidence’ (BWC) member for tree or gardening work at www.buywithconfidence.gov.uk. Residents can also visit www.trees.org.uk and choose a member of the Arboricultural Association for work on trees.

To report a rogue tree or gardening service residents can call the Citizens Advice Consumer Service on 03454 04 05 06.
