Havering Council has received a grant of £21,000 from Sainsbury’s as part of its Waste less, Save more campaign to fund a variety of food waste prevention activities across the borough.

The programme of events will include: The Zero Waste Kitchen Challenge, the Fab Food School programme, Family Cookery workshops, and it will all kick off with a Feed the 1,000 event this Autumn.

Councillor Osman Dervish, Cabinet Member for Environment, said:

“We are absolutely delighted to be chosen as one of the Sainsbury’s Discovery Communities. We know that our borough is keen to help address the issue of food waste, receiving this grant funding from Sainsbury’s will help in all our efforts.”
