Armchair exercises to help you get fit in Harold Hill and Hornchurch
Havering residents over the age of 55 are being invited to get fit… without leaving an armchair.
Havering Council Housing Services has teamed up with Upminster-based Exercise with Sally Guise to run a six-week long course in Harold Hill starting on Monday 04 September and in Hornchurch on Thursday 07 September.
Deputy Leader of Havering Council and Cabinet Member for Housing, Councillor Damian White, said:
“Keeping fit when you’re older and often less mobile can be challenging as jogging or going to the gym is not always an option but everyone can do armchair exercises.
“We have previously run some of these six-week courses with an instructor, and residents have found them so good they have continued with a weekly class using a DVD.
“We hope that people coming along to the next courses will be similarly inspired.
“Anyone over the age of 55 can come along and participate in the courses and there is no charge for taking part.”
Sally Guise added: “The armchair exercise classes show residents some simple ways to help keep moving from the comfort of their chair or mobility scooter.
“Many of the things we do can be done while watching TV but the exercises do help people keep supple and mobile which is good for their overall health.”
The courses start on:
- Monday 4 September 2017, 12.30pm, Charlbury Court, Charlbury Crescent, Harold Hill RM3 8YE
- Thursday 7 September 2017, 11am, William Tansley Smith House, Hacton Lane, Hornchurch RM12 6PE
Places on the courses are free of charge and can be booked. Book a course
