Havering Council’s Music School are pleased to announce the establishment of a new partnership that will enhance the cultural teaching of music in the borough.

This partnership with the Office of Education and Cultural Attache, The Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia, London will see many local schools benefit from free workshop sessions.

Students will be provided with the opportunity to learn about Indonesian music and dance from highly experienced artists provided by the renowned Prof. E. Aminudin Aziz, as part of their outreach programmes, “Gamelan Goes to Schools” and “Community-based Gamelan”.

MyPlace youth centre and Suttons Primary School are both hosting the Gamelan instruments.

Residents can also enjoy this programme at the Queen’s Theatre in Hornchurch on Saturday 18 November.

Further projects are being co-developed over the next three years to introduce more Havering children to this exciting and rich culture.
