Reception class admissions is open

Published: Tuesday, 7 November 2017

Havering Council is reminding all parents and carers in the borough to apply now for their child’s 2018 Reception school place.  If your child is born between 01 September 2013 and 31 August 2014, you must apply online for their Reception school place at  www.havering.gov.uk/admissions.

Is your child due to start school in 2018, you need to apply now

Currently 91 percent of Havering primary school children are either attending an ‘Outstanding’ or ‘Good’ school in the borough. Havering Primary Schools aim to develop your child’s academic and creative abilities, enhance their social skills and prepare them for a lifetime of learning and achievement.

Councillor Robert Benham, Cabinet Member for Children and Learning, said:

“We want to ensure all parents in the borough complete their online application on time, as some schools in the borough receive in excess of six times more applications than places available.

"Parents are also reminded that attendance at a school nursery class or at an early years provider on school grounds does not mean an automatic transfer to the reception class of the school.  If any parent has any concerns or questions, please contact the Council’s Admissions Team.”

The Council advises that when deciding on a primary school to make sure you have read the individual school admissions criteria carefully. The criteria will help guide applicants on the possibility of being offered a place at their preferred school.

Don’t miss the deadline.

Reception closing date - 15 January 2018.

It is important for your child’s application to be received before the deadline; to be considered as an ‘on time’ application.
