Havering Social Worker wins prestigious national award
The Social Worker of the Year Awards took place at a glittering ceremony in The Royal Lancaster Hotel, London on Friday 24 November. In total, more than 80 social workers and teams competed to win awards in 16 categories.
Jackie Dowding, said:
“At 74 years of age, this was a huge honour for me to win this award and to receive such recognition from my peers across the country.
This award reflects not only the important work I do, but the high quality of the social care service in Havering.”
Tim Aldridge, Havering Council Director of Children’s Services, said:
“This is a fantastic achievement for Jackie and her colleagues across children’s services. Jackie has been at Havering since 2004 and has consistently shown true dedication and commitment, which has often been recognised by colleagues, other agencies and Ofsted.
“To be recognised nationally is a credit to the incredible, often challenging work, our social workers do on a daily basis in order to improve the lives of our most vulnerable residents.”
