Havering Council is flying the Rainbow Flag to mark LGBT History Month.

At a ceremony held at the Town Hall, Romford, on 7 February, Councillor Linda Van den Hende, Mayor of Havering, Councillor Damian White, Deputy Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member for Housing, were joined by Council staff, ward councillors and residents, to raise the Rainbow Flag.

LGBT History Month celebrates and recognises the achievements and rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people. This year’s theme is: ‘Geography: Mapping the World’, highlighting the latest nations to legalise same sex marriage.

Councillor Linda Van den Hende, Mayor of Havering, said:

“We’re proud to fly the Rainbow Flag in Havering to recognise LGBT History Month.

“It is a symbol of the Council’s support for the LGBT community and other community groups in Havering.”
