Councillor Robert Benham, Cabinet Member for Children and Learning, said:

“The Council organised the recruitment event to ensure that all young people supported by Havering Council have the same access to employment opportunities as everyone else in the borough.

“I hope that this opportunity, where young people can discuss their career options with employers, shows that local companies and the Council are here to help at every stage.

“The support from employers and training providers has been fantastic,  and we are always eager to speak to new businesses who are willing to offer training opportunities, work experience or mentoring to local young people with care experiences.  The Council has also launched a regular Job Club for care leavers and young people living in care, where they can develop their CV, learn interview techniques, or receive help with finding an apprenticeship or a job.”

Angelina, Havering Care Leaver, said:

"I worked with Havering Council and they helped me apply for roles. Helped me with my CV writing skills, interview techniques and equipping me with the best tools to land a new role.”
