Samuel Ward Academy Trust to run new Havering special free school.

In plans announced by the Department of Education, the trusts new Special school will open in the borough, offering places to 60 children aged from 3 - 16 year olds with communication and interaction needs and social, emotional and mental health needs.

This established trust already operates 19 primary and secondary schools, predominantly in Suffolk.

Plans for the new school were announced last April as part of an announcement by the Department for Education which saw a number of new free schools announced across the country.

Havering spokesperson, said:

This supports the Council’s Vision of a good start for every child, and is part of our SEND strategy to increase the range of provision available locally.

Children and Families Minister Nadhim Zahawi said:

“Opening new special free schools across the country will provide tailored support for over a thousand children to ensure they have access to the excellent education that every child deserves.”
