Are you ready to win?
Local firms are being encouraged to tap the expertise of a number of business support organisations at a free event designed to encourage them to bid for, and win, local government and public sector.
“Open for business – are you ready to win” is being held at Havering’s Town Hall on Thursday 24 November.
The early evening event starts at 5.30pm and is being run by Havering Council in association with the East London Business Place, Enterprise Nation and BIZphit.
Emma Jones MBE from Enterprise Nation, the recently appointed Small Business Crown Representative, will be giving the key note speech at the event. Emma commented:
"I've seen at first hand that the Borough of Havering has an impressive and ambitious small business community. Helping them get involved with the kind of Government contracts that are available to them locally is vitally important - and there's never been a better time to sell to government with a target to spend £1 in every £3 with small businesses by 2020. This event will introduce businesses to buyers and experts who can help you get tender ready.”
Graham Clarke from BIZphit who will be leading two of the evening’s workshops said:
"Applying for Government contracts is a brilliant way for small firms to bring in promptly-paid, consistent and reliable business - and it's the kind of work that can often help businesses get to the next level. I think this event will help open the eyes of small and medium sized businesses to the perceived difficulties in going for public sector contracts and it will enable them to see the opportunities.”
Councillor Jason Frost, Havering Council’s Deputy Deputy Lead Member for Business Engagement said:
“This is a fantastic opportunity to get loads of free helpful advice and for a number of the myths about applying for work with the Council or other public sector organisations to be busted. I hope the event is a great success that will help our local SMEs thrive.”
