Forces march on parade in Romford on Saturday

Shoppers and residents packed the streets to watch the parade as it made its way from South Street to Tollgate House.

Among those marching were currently-serving troops, veterans and cadets as well as service families, led by the Royal British Legion Band and Corps of Drums Romford.

Romford Market Place was also at the centre of the day’s activities as it hosted a street party in partnership with Romford Shopping Hall, which saw families enjoy free face painting, a mini funfair and music supplied by Time 107.5FM.

A special lunch was held at the street party for local community champions. Recognition was given to those residents who go above and beyond to help their communities.

The Mayor of Havering, Councillor Dilip Patel, said:

“We would like to thank everyone for joining us once again to show their support and appreciation for our armed forces.

“It was wonderful to see so many people of all ages, lining the route of the parade and we hope that they all enjoyed the fabulous street party in Romford Market. Along with the beautiful weather, it made for a fantastic day.”
