Albyns Close ready for residents

Published: Tuesday, 6 December 2016

The latest scheme in Havering Council’s ambitious programme to build 3,500 new homes in the borough was officially handed over to the Council this week.

The development at Albyns Close, Rainham provides 10 two-bedroom bungalows for affordable rent and nine two-bedroom bungalows for Low Cost Home Ownership (LCHO). The LCHO bungalows are earmarked for people over the age of 55 years.

Deputy Leader of Havering Council and Cabinet Member for Housing, Councillor Damian White, said: “There is very high demand in Havering from older people wanting to live in bungalows and these 19 new properties in Albyns Close will help us meet that demand.

“They are energy efficient and have been finished to a high standard, a standard which is being set for all of the new properties we are building.

“There is already a high level of interest in the LCHO properties and the bungalows for affordable rent will help us provide suitable alternative accommodation for Council tenants being moved from the 12 areas which are part of the Housing Regeneration Programme.”

Update: An earlier version of this article incorrectly stated that all 19 bungalows in this development were earmarked for people over the age of 55. This has now be amended to reflect the correct criteria for these properties.
