Give a Child a Christmas
The Mayor welcomes Time FM and GBP Estates staff to the Town Hall

At the full Council meeting held on 23 November the Mayor of Havering appealed to councillors to support the annual “Give a Child a Christmas campaign organised by local radio station, Time FM.

As a result of her appeal councillors donated loads of toys including cuddly toys and animals and the Mayor, Cllr Philippa Crowder, presented them to Time FM and the sponsors of this year’s Give a Child a Christmas appeal, GBP Estates, in her parlour in the Town Hall on Monday 5 December.

Romford-based Time 107.5 FM annual Christmas campaign asks listeners to buy an extra toy while out shopping then take it to their studio in the Liberty Shopping centre or to GBP Estates in Victoria Road in Romford by 19 December. When all the Toys are collected they will be distributed to underprivileged children in the area who otherwise may not get anything. Last year over 5,000 toys where donated and distributed to Women’s Aid, homeless shelters, food banks, housing charities and other children’s charities throughout Havering, and neighbouring boroughs.

Tom Goldsmith, Sales Manager of Time FM said:

“We are also grateful to the Mayor for having us today. The toys donated by the councillors will go directly to under privileged children in our area for Christmas so their generosity is greatly appreciated. If anyone can still help us with some gifts for babies and teenagers we would love to hear from them.”

The Mayor said:

“I was so pleased that our councillors responded so enthusiastically to my appeal for their help in supporting Time FM’s “Give a Child a Christmas.” This is the 13th year the station has run this appeal and I was very happy to host a meeting to thank the team at Time FM and their sponsors, GBP Estates, for once again organising such a successful campaign.”
