Abbey Wood is an area of open space close to a privately owned lake, which has direct access to Hornchurch Country Park and the Forestry Commission site Berwick Glades. It can be used as the start of a walk along the Ingrebourne Valley which reaches Hornchurch Stadium at Upminster Bridge.

This area of open space can be reached directly using the 165 bus, which departs from The Brewery shopping centre in Romford, and travels through Hornchurch, Elm Park and Rainham before arriving at its destination in Abbey Wood Lane. Car parking
The wood has no off-street car park of its own, however there is limited parking in the surrounding residential streets. Please be aware of any parking restrictions that may be in force. There is a free car park a short walk away at Berwick Wood which is located at the opposite end of the main footpath that leads from Abbey Wood Lane past the fishing lake.
