Havering Council’s tenants and leaseholders are being challenged to help make the borough even more beautiful with the launch of this year’s Housing in Bloom competition this week.

There are four months to go before entries close and it is hoped there will be a bumper crop of entries.

Entry is free and there are voucher prizes for the top three in each category with £100 for the winner, £40 for the second place and £10 for third place.

There are five categories to enter, with something for everyone to do, from planting a small hanging basket or growing a single sunflower, to getting a team together to beautify your communal areas.

Key dates for the 2017 competition

  • Thursday 31 August - Entries close
  • Thursday 7 September - Judging takes place
  • Friday 29 September - Awards ceremony

The five categories are:
