Havering Council launches Christmas Safety Week

Published: Wednesday, 7 December 2016

A campaign to encourage Havering residents to stay safe over Christmas is being launched this week, where different aspects of safety and security will be promoted.

Police officers will be advising on all security matters, the Council’s Safer Transport team will be helping with bike marking to deter theft, fire safety campaigners will be promoting smoke alarms, timer switches to help prevent burglary will be available from Havering’s neighbourhood wardens and the Council’s Streetcare team will be advising on rubbish collections over Christmas.

Members of the public are invited to visit the pop-up shop in Romford’s Brewery shopping centre, opposite Costa Coffee, every day from 9 - 23 December between 12-2pm.

Councillor Osman Dervish, Cabinet Member for Community Safety said:

“Christmas is a very special time of year, but it’s all the more important to stay safe. I hope as many people as possible will come along and get advice from the experts. We’re very grateful to the Brewery for allowing us to have such a prominent space over the festive period.”
