The Romford Ceilidh Band is a unique, community focused folk music group in Havering, London, offering free weekly Monday sessions at The Golden Lion, Romford.
Open to all acoustic instrument players and vocalists, the band welcomes everyone, whether you want to play, sing, or simply listen.
Unlike most music groups in London that charge, these sessions are completely free, making them an accessible space for musicians of all levels.
Each Monday, open rehearsals run from 7pm to 9pm, starting with new tunes, followed by established repertoire, and concluding with a lively “Shout,” encouraging audience participation and shared musical fun.
Sheet music and lyric sheets are available online, so members can practice at home, and complete beginners can arrange informal, free lessons before the session.
The band also invites participants to teach tunes from any tradition, fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment where music, social connection, and cultural exchange thrive.
