Chris Peckham is a Hornchurch-based fine artist specialising in acrylic paintings that celebrate the quiet beauty of everyday life. An exhibition at Queen's Theatre that runs until 2 November.

Chris Peckham is a Hornchurch-based fine artist specialising in acrylic paintings that celebrate the quiet beauty of everyday life. His practice is deeply rooted in observation, focusing on ordinary subjects, human interaction and the capturing of transient, fleeting moments of light.

Chris trained at two of London's premier art institutions, the Central School of Art under the influential Pop artist Derek Boshier, followed by Camberwell School of Art and Crafts, where he was mentored by the renowned illustrator Charles Keeping. These distinct apprentiships instilled in him both a keen sense of graphic realism and an appreciation of narrative social commentary.

In tandem with his personal practice, Chris has worked for the past 37 years in the NHS as an art therapist. This extensive career working at the intersection of human emotion and visual expression profoundly shaped his artistic worldview. His deep understanding of the human
condition is evident in his current paintings, which approach everyday people and local landscapes with intense empathy, sensitivity and a masterful command of atmosphere.

This current exhibition beautifully bridges the artist's history and evolution. It features a new series of recent, locally based work capturing the familiar light and landscapes of the community, presented alongside a retrospective of paintings spanning the past 17 years. Together, the collection showcases a dedicated, long-term exploration of time, place and the British everyday experience.

Exhibition open 10 to 5pm Monday to Friday, 10 to 3pm on Saturdays.
