What happens if you don't pay your Council tax?

A reminder notice will be issued if you fail to pay an instalment. You will then have seven days to bring your account up to date by paying the overdue amount.

If you do not pay the amount shown on your notice within seven days, your right to pay by instalments is lost and the full balance for the year becomes due and must be paid within seven days.

You may receive a further notice or a summons to attend court if you continue to pay late or don't pay at all. You will also incur additional costs.

For more details about what happens if you don't pay your Council tax please read The Council Debt Recovery Policy.
