Local Green Points Resident Reward Scheme
The London Green Points Havering scheme will be ending in October 2018 and is now closed to new registrations.
How can I spend my points?
400 points are worth £1 and all points must be used by October 2018.
You can spend your points or check your balance by either logging into your account at www.localgreenpoints.com/havering or by calling 020 7326 5055 Monday to Friday, 9am to 5.30pm.
Points can be used to purchase products from the online store or donated to a local charity that is registered to the scheme such as St Francis Hospice, Mind and Harold Hill Food Bank. Members can also receive special offers and discounts at more than 100 local businesses simply by showing their London Green Points – Havering card.
How are points earned?
Points were allocated to each member of the scheme depending on the area they live in and the amount of waste and recycling collected over a 3 month period. All residents that were LGP members within the area that had the lowest weight in waste would receive the highest number of green points. The collection round with the highest weight of recycling would also receive the largest proportion of points. All other areas would still receive points but the amount of points would depend on the weights recorded and the position they came in when compared against the other areas.
Bonus points were given to residents that took part in a waste reduction initiative. This included participating in a Love Food Hate Waste workshop, compost workshop, sewing workshop, for purchasing a compost bin or redeeming a reusable nappy pack. The number of bonus points awarded for each initiative varied.
A monthly email containing a points statement is sent to all members whenever points were awarded to all members.
What is the reducing waste reward points scheme?
This is a free reward scheme that started in January 2014 for residents of Havering to earn points for reducing, reusing and recycling.
The aim of the scheme is to make Havering a greener Borough and change residents behaviour by creating awareness of waste reduction initiatives, and encouraging them to waste less and recycle more, rewarding them with points for their efforts.
The scheme was funded externally with a grant from The Department for Communities and Local Government (DCLG) and over 25,000 residents have joined the scheme.
Havering Council do not have the funding or resources to continue with such a large scheme, however we will continue to encourage waste minimisation through; our popular Love Food Hate Waste cookery workshops, nappy sample packs, subsidised compost bins, and other initiatives throughout the year.
The Havering Waste & Recycling Team along with Green Rewards would like to thank all residents that took part in the scheme for supporting the initiative and helping to improve our environment. Please keep up with the good work that you have been doing.
