Garden waste service bin sticker delivery delay

There is a delay in the printing and delivery of the bin stickers for the garden waste bin service. Some stickers may take up to 21 days to be delivered. Your garden waste will still be collected during this period.

Bulky collections

This service is for residents of Havering and not for commercial waste.

Commercial waste should be taken to Frizlands Lane or Jenkins Lane Reuse and Recycling Centres.

Regular bulky collections

For a fee we can collect large items or items that you can't put in your usual rubbish and recycling bags.

The maximum height\length of items we can collect is 6 feet. This is due to the size of the trucks that collect the items.

We provide a collection service for items such as:

  • furniture
  • white goods
  • carpets / underlay
  • toys
  • sports equipment
  • bags of bric-a-brac
  • garden furniture
  • doors
  • bathroom fittings

Use our 'what item goes where' search facility to get information about all the items we will collect in a bulky collection.

Alternatively you can call us on 01708 432563 to book between 9am and 5pm, Monday to Friday.

Once your collection has been booked and paid for, your items should be left on the boundary of your property by 7am on the arranged day of collection.

We will not accept liability for loss or damage to property during the removal of items for collection. We reserve the right to refuse to remove any item on the grounds of inaccessibility or potential hazard to staff.

Clearing sofas, armchairs and dining chairs

When collecting bulky waste or clearing fly-tipping, our crews collect domestic seating such as sofas, armchairs and dining chairs separately.

Please don’t be surprised if the crews appear to have left them because they will be coming back for them.

More help with your waste?

It might be cheaper and better for the environment to recycle them. Reusing unwanted items is the most environmentally friendly way.

If your bulky item is of good quality and could be reused, for example white goods or furniture. TCL Reuse charity will possibly collect your item for free. You can call TCL on 020 8553 5880 to discuss further.

Please consider donating useful but unwanted items to your local charity shop or reuse organisation.

Please remember that you are responsible for ensuring that your waste is collected by a licensed waste carrier.

If in doubt, you could check on the Environment Agency, or Love Junk who will help put you in touch with a licensed waste carrier.

Your duty when disposing of household bulky waste

When booking or using a waste collection company, you must take all reasonable measures to make sure that the person or company has the authority to do so.

You can do this by:

  • requesting the waste carrier shows you proof that they have authority to collect and carry waste
  • checking the company against the waste carrier register or by calling the Environmental Agency on 08708 506 506
  • getting a receipt of the transaction

Failure to carry out these checks is a criminal offence under the Environmental Protection Act 1990. An offence can result in a Fixed Penalty Notice up to £400 or an unlimited fine and a criminal conviction if prosecuted.
