What is accepted?

What is restricted waste?

Restricted waste includes waste from building works, renovations and DIY and is classed as construction and demolition waste not household waste.

This includes the following.

  • Asbestos
  • Concrete
  • Soil/rubble
  • Bath tub/toilet/cistern/wash basins
  • Water tanks
  • Doors/windows and frames
  • Kitchen units/worktops
  • Fencing
  • Central heating components
  • Garden sheds
  • Roofing materials
  • Ponds and excavations
  • Structural wood
  • Plasterboard

Small quantities

Small amounts of restricted waste can be taken to the Gerpins Lane Reuse and Recycling Centre for disposal, providing the following conditions are met.

  1. Permission must be obtained before you visit Gerpins Lane Reuse and Recycling Centre.
  2. All waste must be from residents' properties only. Any waste from commercial work must be paid for.

We will call you back (usually within 48 hours) to let you know if you take restricted waste to the centre.

Call backs are only made within working hours (Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm), excluding bank holidays.

We reserve the right to make any check necessary to ensure that the information being provided is correct and that the waste has not come from a trader or commercial transaction.

Large quantities

To dispose of large quantities of restricted waste items please arrange for a skip or an authorised waste collector to remove the items.
