Across the 2023 coronation weekend, there will be opportunities for people to come together in celebration of the historic occasion.

How to organise a community event across the coronation weekend

Community groups can apply for funding of up to £10,000 to assist with organising an event through the National Lottery Awards for All funding programme.

Please note if you are organising a community event, you must submit a full event plan to the Havering Safety Advisory Group (HSAG). Please email events@havering.gov.uk for more information.

Volunteer Market Place – 5 May 2023 

As part of the ‘Big Help Out’ we will be holding a volunteer market place event outside Havering Town Hall from 10am to 3pm.

Coronation Day – 6 May 2023

Romford Business Improvement District (BID) will be hosting an event in Romford Town Centre by Tollgate House.

The event will include, a live screening of King Charles III Coronation, live performances, children’s entertainment and games.

The Big Lunch – 7 May 2023

Neighbours and communities across the United Kingdom are invited to share food and fun together at Coronation Big Lunches on Sunday 7 May 2023, in a nationwide act of celebration and friendship.

From a cup of tea with a neighbour to a street party, a Coronation Big Lunch brings the celebrations to your neighbourhood and is a great way to get to know your community a little better.

Community Concert and Picnic at Raphael Park – 7 May 2023

Bring your family, friends and a picnic for a pleasant fun-filled musical event to mark Coronation weekend at Raphael Park on Sunday 7 May from 12pm-5pm.

The community concert and picnic with The Havering Music School and Music Youth, will see young musicians performing on Raphael Park’s Bandstand. 

The free event celebrates the King’s Coronation and features performances from primary and secondary schools, children’s orchestras and bands, adult orchestras, solo artists and music from other countries.

Refreshments will be available via the facilities already operating within Raphael Park.  

No booking required.
