Secondary school open events for the September 2021 intake
Due to the current government restrictions on social distancing it is anticipated that it will not be possible for secondary school open events to take place.
The below link will be updated regularly with information regarding how schools are planning on addressing this, and what alternatives are being implemented.
Grammar schools and schools that reserve a percentage of their intake for aptitude testing
In response to a range of Covid 19 related issues which make early autumn admissions testing undesirable and impractical.
Many schools which test for a child’s ability or aptitude have decided to postpone admission tests until later in the autumn term.
The schools affected in Havering are:
- Abbs Cross Academy (aptitude places for performing arts)
- Emerson Park Academy (aptitude places for music and sport)
- Redden Court School (aptitude places for sport)
- The Coopers Company and Coborn School (aptitude places for music and sport)
Revised dates will be confirmed early in the autumn term by the school(s) directly.
Despite these changes, parents should still register their child for tests by published deadlines and submit their common application form by the national closing date, 31 October 2020.
The above schools all require you to complete a Supplementary Information Form (SIF), this should also still be completed and returned to the school by their own published deadline.
If you have questions about test arrangements, please check the relevant school websites, or contact the school(s) directly.
If you are a Havering resident
Once you receive the results of the test, you may make changes to your application preferences (such as to add or remove a grammar school or a school who reserve a percentage of their intake for aptitude testing) providing you notify firstname.lastname@example.org by 10 December 2020.
Changes to preference after this date will only be considered after places are offered on 1 March 2021.
We will similarly accommodate changes to preference relating to late test results for selective schools in other local authority areas.
If you are not a Havering resident
Please contact your home local authority for their policy on making changes to a school admission application.
