Welcoming ceremonies

Havering's Registration service offers a welcoming ceremony for your child as an alternative to a religious ceremony.

Any parent can arrange a welcoming ceremony, you do not have to be married and it does not matter what spiritual or religious beliefs you have.

Welcoming ceremonies can be held at Langtons House or any of the approved premises.

Format of the welcoming ceremony

Introduction and welcome by the celebrant

  • readings  / poems (optional)
  • naming the child
  • pledges / promises by child supporting adults or grandparents

Call 01708 433481 for more information or to book a ceremony. Alternatively you can email
