The workshop based at the depot in Purfleet is responsible for maintaining the entire council fleet and any hired vehicles used by the council. All of our vehicles undergo 6-weekly inspections and every 6 months tail lift load testing is carried out.
This service is also available to maintain, inspect and repair vehicles for schools and other affiliated groups.
The workshop contains 8 portable column lifts able to lift 7.2 tonnes per corner or 14 tonnes per axle. There are also three 4 ton four poster lifts and pits. This department can comfortably work on vehicles up to 32 tonnes, can cover vehicle classes 4, 5 and 6 and can work on agricultural and horticultural vehicles.
Workshops can cover inspections, arrange MOT's and carry out any pre-MOT checks, tail-lift repairs and servicing and is in the process of gaining a L.O.L.E.R certificate (weight testing), it is also responsible for minor repairs and can organise major repairs with approved repairers.
