Apply for planning permission
When you are sure that you need planning permission you can apply online via the Planning Portal.
You can calculate the planning fee using the Planning Portal fee calculator.
Along with the appropriate form and fee your application will usually include documents such as plans, a location map and statements describing aspects of the application.
These will vary depending on the details and scale of the proposals.
A checklist has been produced for each application type setting out both national and local validation requirements.
