Havering Works is an innovative employment and skills service provided by London Borough of Havering.

It offers free support for unemployed residents who are looking to start working, return to work or explore training/volunteering opportunities to enhance their skills to improve their work prospects.

  • Support from a qualified Employment Specialist to help individuals develop a personalised vocational profile, these are tailored to help each client work towards achieving their goals
  • Working closely with other specialist agencies and provision that offer additional and/or more specialist support
  • Matching transferable skills and experience to job vacancies
  • Job search support, including but not limited to, CV building, Interview preparation and confidence building.

A voluntary programme for economically inactive Havering residents

Trailblazers is a Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) funded initiative designed to test innovative approaches to supporting economically inactive individuals into employment.

The programme provides tailored support to help participants overcome barriers such as health conditions, caring responsibilities, and other systemic challenges.

Employment and Skills support is available for Havering residents with challenges, complex barriers preventing them from recent active job search activity, or circumstances that deem them unable to start work right away. 

Barriers may include:

  • long term unemployed/Economically inactive
  • disability
  • health related condition or diagnosis including neuro diversity or a learning disability
  • lack of skills/qualifications
  • homelessness
  • carer or childcare issues
  • care leavers

What we offer

  • Personalised one-to-one support 
  • Bespoke job-search and work experience opportunities 
  • CV building support, skills matching, job interview preparation and training opportunities 
  • Confidence building 
  • Information on specialist agencies and other provisions that offer additional or/and more specialist support 
  • Reasonable adjustments within employment settings if needed 
  • We work closely with individuals and employers to ensure a good working environment

You can join if you:

  • are aged 18 or over
  • live in the London Borough of Havering
  • have a health condition, disability, or face other barriers to work
  • are not currently working, not actively seeking work or not available to start work in the next 2 weeks
  • are motivated to work (including self-employment) and want to find a job that’s right for you
  • have the right to work in the UK (valid ID will be required to verify)

A voluntary Supported Employment programme

Connect to Work is a free programme that helps people with health conditions, disabilities, or other challenges to find and keep meaningful employment.

We know that getting into work, or staying in work, isn’t always easy.

That’s why we offer personalised, one-to-one support to help you take the next step and achieve your goals.

You do not need to be in receipt of benefits to join the programme. Connect to Work is open to anyone who needs support, whatever your current situation.

What we offer

  • A dedicated Employment Specialist to support you throughout your journey.
  • A personalised plan based on your strengths, preferences, and goals
  • Help engaging with employers to find and shape roles that suit you
  • Guidance around benefits and workplace adjustments, including support for your employer.
  • Ongoing coaching and support once you’re in work, including future career planning
  • Flexible meeting options. We’ll meet you wherever works best: at home or in the community

You can join if you:

  • are aged 18 or over
  • live in the London Borough of Havering
  • have a health condition, disability, or face other barriers to work
  • are not currently working, or are at risk of losing your job
  • are motivated to work (including self-employment) and want to find a job that’s right for you
  • have the right to work in the UK (valid ID will be required to verify)

Referral process for Trailblazers and Connect to Work

You or a referral partner should first complete the contact form.

Havering Works will the call you, match you to the appropriate programme or signpost you to more help if you are not eligible.

DWP will then verify eligibility and Havering works will confirm and book an appointment with you. 

Any providers who are making a referral must have the clients permission before submitting their details.
