Search for new Havering school governors

Published: Tuesday, 15 February 2022

A new recruitment drive has been launched to find more school governors in Havering.

People from different backgrounds and with different experiences are needed to contribute to local school life in numerous roles such as in human resources, communications and management.

The search coincides with National School Governors’ Awareness Day (22 February 2022).

It aims to raise awareness of how schools are governed and the contribution that governors and trustees are making to improve the lives of children and young people.

Councillor Robert Benham, Cabinet Member for Education, Children and Families, said:

“Being a school governor is an important part of school life and we’d like to tap into the wealth of talent and skills we have in the borough and share them with our schools.

“It will give local people the opportunity to develop themselves in a new area and they will see the benefits they can make to the leadership of a school and to the borough.”

Anyone over 18 can apply. You can find out more by taking part in the virtual day which will cover topics such as recruiting governors and workload and wellbeing.
